The Summer Academy on Organic Animal Breeding and Organic Animal
Husbandry: 1st-14th September 2008
The Summer Academy on Organic Animal Breeding and Organic Animal Husbandry is an internationally oriented
training course of two weeks, covering selected topics from the field of organic animal production, which are going to be presented with
special relevance to the practical challenges of organic agriculture systems in Europe. The course comprises several days of lectures,
visits on organic farms, discussion meetings and an assessment at the end. The Academy takes place in Dresden and the course language is English.
Students will get four ECTS credit points and a certificate of participation.
The Summer Academy’s aim is to support the transfer and the exchange of knowledge about organic agriculture within Europe and the scientific
co-operation in this field. The Summer Academy is also an enlargement of the regular study programme at Central and Eastern Europe universities.
Moreover it contributes to an improvement of education of young agrarian engineers. Advanced students of agriculture and related fields are encouraged
to apply for participation.
The Summer Academy is a cooperation project between the Department of Farm Animal Behaviour and Husbandry at the Faculty
of Organic Agricultural Sciences at the University of Kassel (Germany), the Estonian University of Life Sciences in Tartu (Estonia),
the University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde (Germany), the Ahi Evran University in Kirsehir (Turkey), the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Applied Sciences (HTW) in Dresden (Germany),
the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Maribor (Slovenia), the Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry Brno (Czech Republic),
the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (Poland), the BOKU-University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna (Austria) and EkoConnect
(Germany).
